:: Company History ::
In the early hard disk drives, dedicated servo platters were used to map out
a drives physical storage locations - cylinder, head and sector were actual
coordinates inside the drive. We would source replacement media on the world
market, run it through our customized certifiers to select the top grade defect
free "servo platters", and then use a custom servo writer to physically record
the servo pattern on the platter to be transferred into a freshly built drive in
one of our production clean rooms. Support crews would rebuild the headset right
down to the gimble and flexure; another crew would install, align and balance
the platter stack. These parts would all be tested separately before being
joined together to create a refurbished hard drive ready for media testing and
burn in.
Nowadays, some things have changed but many of the fundamentals of hard drive
technology remain the same. For instance, we still operate our own certifiers in
house to grade and select media for refurbished drives (every platter is graded,
serial numbered and entered into our production database). We still operate
(manufacture, and sell) servo writers that are used to manufacture hard disk
drives, rewrite servo code and recover user data that would be otherwise
inaccessible. And we still maintain a tight focus on high standards through
rigid engineering protocol and strict quality control policies.
