Servers are a necessary data storage tool for most corporations today. File servers, application servers, web servers, NAS devices, and mail servers are all tools that are critical to a company's day-to-day functions. Information may be stored on permanent hard drives, removable media, one hard drive or many. Unfortunately, as with any other hardware, sometimes the individual media in servers suffer from the same breakdown situations as do personal workstations.

Some failure points that server systems may encounter include:

• Failure of RAID controllers or multiple drive failure
• Configuration corruption
• Loss of server configuration registry
• Drive failure
• Accidental reconfiguration of RAID drives or replacement of media components

At Nortek, we use specialized hardware and software tools in one of our three class-100 clean rooms. Failed components typically include electronics, read/write heads, head assemblies, magnets & drive motors.
